Korean Wedding Ducks

So the Mother of a good friend of ours gave me a pair of Korean wedding ducks yesterday. She said she got them years ago when her and her husband were in Korea, and given our circumstance she wanted us to have them. How sweet and thoughtful was that! Since I knew nothing about the story of the ducks, I had to do some research. Here is what I found.

The wedding ducks are a very popular wedding favor in Korea with special meaning. They represent the bride and groom and their life together after the wedding. The ducks are carried into the home of the new couple and are displayed somewhere where they can easily be seen. Their position tells of the couples marital state. When the ducks are placed nose to nose this means the relationship is good. But when they're placed tail to tail this means they are most likely having a tiff. If the couple quarrels, one will point to the ducks, which will remind them of the peaceful wedding, and they should then stop fighting. The duck is handed down from Mother to Daughter for many generations. The wedding ducks symbolize the following three things; 1. Peace 2. Many Children 3. No separations.

Here is a picture of our ducks. They are currently happy ducks. I will be sure to let you know if they're positioning changes. LOL! :-)

Diaper Bag Search Just Might Be Over.......

So I think I might be loving this Bella Tunno diaper bag (which I just placed my order for). OK, so I do have to admit that I AM a bit obsessed with the color grey right now, but isn't this cute?!?! And, the added bonus....it's very reasonably priced (as far as diaper bags go)! I am very excited to say that my diaper bag search is (might be) over!

Life is a balance....

So I contacted our adoption agency AAC yesterday. I usually try and check in with them every couple of weeks. Somehow I feel like my persistence will pay off and Maddyx will get to come home earlier. Soooo not how it works in the adoption world, but it makes me feel better to do it anyway! I was told that I should expect it to be a couple more months (end of July'ish) before Maddyx's exit permission paperwork is filed. They are currently processing the exit permission paperwork for the November referrals (we are January). I was also told that our agency will be making another trip to Korea in the beginning of July and if we're still waiting for our exit permission at that time, they will bring us home new updates (photos and video) of Maddyx. So that's positive. Bad news, Maddyx will not be home for his 1st birthday. Good news, we'll get one more set of pictures and video. Therein lies the balance of life, which leads me to my quote of the day.......

SPIRITUAL BALANCE IS THE ABILITY TO BE HAPPY IN SPITE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES

No longer a lurker.....

So today I'm embarking upon a new journey. A journey into the "blog world". I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous! I've been a lurker (or a stalker) of blogs for quite some time. Actually, ever since our adoption process began. I found it very therapeutic to visit all of these blogs with people going through some of the exact same things as me. It was really like a support system. I never thought I would become a blogger, just thought I would remain a lifetime lurker. Well.....here.I.am! I "plan" (I use the word plan very loosely, as we all know how plans go) to use this blog as a way to share our journey of adopting Maddyx, bringing him home, and anything else that sparks my interest in the present moment. I look forward to letting you into our lives (just a little bit) and hope you enjoy!

And so, without further ado...... let me introduce Maddyx! These photos were just taken on Arpil 30th by our adoption agency. He's 9 months and weighs in at 25lbs! Sooo darn cute! We are hoping to have him home and in our arms by August or September. Can you believe those cheeks?!?
